Silky Woods is the debut fragrance in Goldfield & Banks' Botanical Series — launched in 2021 and created by Hamid Merati-Kashani — and the first perfume on the market to explore Australian agarwood, sustainably harvested from the rainforests of Tropical Queensland. It opens with a delicate warmth of Cinnamon and Tobacco Leaves, joined by saffron that reads as soft, supple leather rather than spice. The heart unfolds into exotic Ylang Ylang and creamy Vanilla, alongside suede and Australian oud — a smooth, musky oud without the medicinal or animalic intensity that intimidates many, more chocolatey and warm than woody or dark. The base is Agarwood softened by Suede and enriched with Saffron, Incense and Australian Sandalwood, grounded by Tahitian vanilla, tobacco leaf, musk, and olibanum. Performance is excellent — long lasting, especially if you spray it on hair and clothes, with most wearers reporting 8+ hours on skin. Community comparisons land most frequently on Tom Ford Oud Wood and Tobacco Oud — both fragrances are rich, smooth, strong and long lasting with their oud, woods and leathery notes, but Silky Woods has much more of a gourmand feel to it, which makes it more unisex and more addictive. A polarizing but widely loved release — some find it too sweet or feminine, others make it a signature — but as a decant it's an easy and risk-free way to try one of niche perfumery's most wearable ouds.
