Y Elixir is the most concentrated and luxurious expression of YSL's iconic Y line — launched in 2024 and created by master perfumer Dominique Ropion. Described by the house as "an haute couture version of Y" with heightened intensity, woodiness, and sensuality.
The opening is sharp, clean lavender paired with crisp geranium — a bright, almost soapy aromatic freshness that feels polished and modern rather than traditionally fougère. As it develops, smoky frankincense and oud emerge in the base, adding depth and resinous warmth without overwhelming the composition. The oud here is western-style and restrained — woody and leathery rather than animalic or medicinal. The base includes fir balsam, frankincense, cypriol, patchouli, and oud, creating a warm, smoky foundation that feels richer and more mature than the original Y EDP.
As an extrait de parfum, most wearers report 8–10 hours on skin, though performance opinions vary — some find it strong and long-lasting, while others note it sits closer to the skin than expected for an elixir concentration. Projection is moderate to strong in the first hour, then settles into a skin-close warmth.
Community comparisons land most frequently on Bleu de Chanel EDP and Y EDP — Y Elixir feels like a darker, more mature take on the Y signature, stripping away the juicy apple sweetness in favor of lavender, incense, and wood. If you've loved the Y line but wanted something less sweet and more evening-appropriate, or if you're drawn to clean aromatic fragrances with smoky depth, a decant is the perfect way to experience this polished evolution.
